Okay, I agree that there is no crying in hockey. But I do NOT agree with you statement about our National Anthem. I agree that the man did not do justice to our National Anthem, but that is NO reason to disrespect our country. I don't care what anyone says, talking/laughing/etc. during our National Anthem IS disrespectful to our country and the people who have served it and are serving it currently. I can assure that not everyone was laughing or talking while he was singing, because I was not and most of the people standing next to me were not. It doesn't matter who is talking during the anthem, it should not be done. I have always been disappointed in people who do not pay due respect to our country (this is in the way of talking during the anthem, not removing their hat during the anthem, etc.), perhaps this is because my father and grandfather instilled these customs in me (growing up at Munn), but that shouldn't matter. These are common courtesies that should be followed by EVERYONE. As for the Canadian National Anthem, the same respects should be shown. I was impressed by our "leader" as she appeared to know all of the words to "O, Canada" and was paying all of these respects (as mentioned above) during their anthem, but was rather disappointed when she did not show the same respect to the United States that she showed to Canada (I'm not saying that paying Canada respect was wrong, i'm just saying that she should not have been laughing or joking around during our anthem, directly after standing tall and singing the Canadian Anthem). And I don't think anyone is playing a victim in this case. We're just expressing our diappointment in the person who is supposed to lead by example. I would incredibly horrified if everyone else in the section followed suit and acted in a similar manner.
