Subject: Summary of Last night espcially for Eduna and Jessica

Since you guys couldn't be there last night, let me sum up what we learned. It was actually remarkably informative, far more than most of our previous meetings.

We all met on 80th street at a large restaurant. It seems there was a magical meeting there of all the Tradition mages in the city. The important people went into the back room to discuss things and left about 70 or 80 mages in the front room to eat and talk. There were about 25 important people, Rob drew pictures of some of them.

The whole room seems to be warded in such a way as to eliminate paradox and make attacks comming into the place very hard to pull off. The preperations were just for this one night, they won't be using the space again, which is impressive.

We have a new memeber amoung us it seems, a woman whose name I missed who has a generally goth look, dark brown hair, shoulder length, maybe 5'8" (maybe less, she was wearing platform shoes) and fairly thin. I have a photo of her. This was her first night learning about magic, so she has some excuse, but she did not impress me at all. She got drunk and high very quickly and even after she was forcefully sobered up she was not taking the situation very seriously.

Regarding our fellow young mages, several of them also showed themselves to be reckless. Dave and two others ended up mouthing off to some important magical offical. I'm not sure of the names of the others, one has very short curly hair and the other has spikey, wild hair. Dave also did some other crazy things, but I'll get to that in a moment. Justin was very quiet, as usual, but he said he's been actively looking for Scarlet, which seems highly dangerous and stupid.

Anyway, back to the chronology. We socialized a bit as things started. Then a magical fight broke out, a very formalized duel. It reminded me alot of that bull fight in France, very brutal and, frankly, horrific. I couldn't stand to watch, nor could Rob or Dawn, but I belive we all left subtally enough not to make fools of ourselves. When I came back I learned that the Hermetic contestant had won, though by some questionable methods, using "Tas".

We then all split up to talk to the various mystical people in the room.

Akashiks -- nobody I know talked to them.

Choristers -- Chris apparently has contacts with a group of them, her "bible study group" she calls them, though she is pagan. She was going to introduce Dawn and I to them but then Dave arrived. I ran interference for Dawn and Chris, which I think they appreciated. Chris said she asked them if she and I (and possibly Dave, but I hope he will forget) to go see them latter. Dawn was very impressed with their acceptance of spirituality in general.

Euthanitos -- Richard talked to them, with Raul and later some others. They were trying to be intimidating and/or cool by having their table shrowded in smoke. Richard played cards with them, a game where he had to bet things. He was willing to risk the most amoung the new mages and so he won, which has to be a good thing. The Euthanitos made it clear that they have a fairly organized structure and membership consists of a series of initiations.

Estatics -- Rob talked to these, with Raul as well. They seem a fairly loose organization and say that the amount of drugs you do is very much up to you, but status seems to be determined based on what you've done. They tested Raul by giving him an adictive substance and then making him give them the bottle back of his own volition. He passed and apparently that's all that's required to be an Estatic.

Hermetics -- I talked to a certain Samuel who was sitting at a table of Hermetics. They seem very laid back, I was very surprised. They were all a bit nerdy, but friendly. Samuel seemed happy to meet with me and set up a time and place to do so, which are: [blah]. I also gave him a copy of the paper I just wrote based on my thoughts from Thursday night. I am very currious what their reaction will be. I made it clear that I belive I've figured anything out, just that I have some ideas on where to start.

Son's of Ether -- I talked to two med students and got some contact information. They were very rushed and didn't want to talk to me. I didn't feel that it was in a rude way, they just had to get work done basically. I got a contact number, which is [blah].

Virtual Adepts -- Dave and Niel talked this group first and said they were very freaked out by them. Apparently Dave made a fool out of himself and one of the VA's punished him or tested him, not clear which, by breaking his ear drum with some technological device. It also seems that Matt Hunter is known to the VAs and is not on good terms with them. Matt apparrentlyh claims all of new york city's Metaverse (I find Niel Stephenson's term much more descriptive than the "Digital Web") as his domain. Matt is offically a VA, but he seems to piss the VAs off. Internal VA politics, very interesting. Anyway, later on I went over to them. They all seemed to be interfacing with a computer in some fashion, not aware of what was going on around them. I coughted politely and gave one of them my e-mail address and fled. They were very unnerving in ways I can't really describe.

Verbena -- Rob and Richard and I went to talk to them, and Richard did most of the talking, which is good as he's the one who is most interested in them. Jessie introduced us to his "boys" of whom there are four men (counting Jessie) and two women. The Verbena seem to be a very open organization, they said they are happy to teach people in exchange for helping out once in a while. Of course, helping out may mean killing some Vampires. Richard asked them explicitly about the Vampries thing and they tried to make it seem as if it was not a big deal and not a major part of their lives. One of them in a molecular biology major and I gave her my e-mail address.

I think that's all the groups.

Dave droped some tech to me about his activities. First off he threatened to kill anyone who joined the technocracy, which is pretty insane of him. He also said he's trying to find a way to acess the Metaverse and says that the VAs told him Forces were needed. As he explains it, Corespondence can put your body in the Metaverse, Mind can put your mind in the Metaverse and Forces can make your sences percieve the Metaverse without entering it. He is planning to start looking for you Eduna, though he says he hasn't started yet, so he is likely not the one looking for you now. He seems to think that he wants to have some sort of violent confrentation with you Eduna, he really scares me. But its better in my mind for me to stay close to him so he tells me what he is up to. I'm going to start another thread about your security in general.

Finally, after all this, the leading mages came out. It was clear that they had been in the back room for as much as three days discussing things. A chorester who Chris recognized as someone from St. Pauls made the announcements and seemed to be in charge. He anounced that they had been discussing Scarlet. He said that people should lay low while the problem was dealt with basically. He had no explaination for the dreams. Then some idiots in our group started talking back to him. One of them was thrown out.

At this point things broke up.
