Subject: Scarlet and the Symbols

Let me just recap what we know and then present two theories about what is going on.

Scarlet "marked" four members of the group, one of which was not present, in some fashion that was remarkably difficult to remove. Dave commented that "his soul had to be picked apart at the molecular level." But that's Dave, so take it with a grain of salt.

Joe got Death, Dave got Famine, Niel got Pestilence, and Hector got War. More properly they all got symbols that we belive are associated with those concepts, a Sythe, a Sword and some other things I've forotten. But I like the interpritations.

Cris and Mara have sugested that there is some connection between these symbols and the personalities of the people who got them. Dave himself commented that he's had a facination with Famine, but I'm not sure how much of that is after the fact confabulation.

I've had an alternate idea, which is that a person's Tradition leaning is sugested by their symbol. So Joe as a Euthanitos makes the most sence as Death; Dave leans most towards the Verbena who are about the cycle of nature, part of which is Famine; Niel leans towards the VAs and a modern pestilence is certainly a computer virus. I'm not sure where Hector's tradition preferences are. I'd guess War relates to the Akashiks or the Choristers. This sugests that there may be other fundamental destructive concepts, each carried by a member of a different tradition. Richard, I'd like you to check the red-headed boy for a symbol as soon as you can.

Just a theory, but I kind of like it.
