well, giving the sheer oddness of the situation a couple days thought, maybe it wasn't exactly a discrepancy. the things that attempted to reach scarlet through the time-freeze magic just didn't really "register" until the end. though the attacker's bullets did strike home, they didn't really pack their punch until the end there. the same with jesse's strikes. though they did "hit" the appropriate physical reaction to strikes of that caliber didn't really occur until the time freeze ended. maybe the same occured with the ice spell? just like the bullets did enter her torso and the claws did tear her flesh, maybe she was cold to the touch? one idea as to why the ice looked so different was because it was something that affected a wide swath. the bullets and jesse's talons are rather focused. two other reasons: first, both the gun and jesse's assaults are "mundane" rather than purely magical. they are both odd, both they're less magical then that ice spell. it's the difference between like using magic to tear someone open and making a dog with magic and then sending it to attack someone. maybe the time spell affects other magic in a manner different then "mundane" assualts? maybe it was enginiered to have that variable effect. second, it could have to do with the affiliations the two things that appeared to have "gotten through" and time magic. i'm sure we can agree that the assasin, and that's what he was an assasin, has some link to time magic be it personal or borrowed. we also know that jesse knows time magic, and didn't joe say that part of jesse's battle dress involved some sort of time speeding up? the two of them would have already been under the influence of some other time magic when they entered the stasis field. maybe that's why their attacks appeared more effective?

just some theories.
