While it might seem the officiating was bad, I would point out that more often than not, home teams seem to get to the line more.

I have not done definitive analysis on this. But I did look at Bucknell and Lehigh conference box scores from this year and the trend holds true.

As for the substitutions ghurting momentum, from what I have heard/read about the game (I was in DC for HC-AU), it appears to me that Pat was forced out of his normal rotation because of foul problems.

I will admit, I have a hard time believing Lehigh's front line should have an edge on Bucknell's where the whistles are concerned. But not having seen the game, I can't say it was more than typical home court edge, which is wrong, but does go both ways.

I will also point out, the same thing happened to Holy Cross at Lehigh, but they managed to win an game that was just as close as BU-LU was.

Personally, I attribute that to HC having three seniors in the starting lineup. Bucknell is talented, but still young. The Patriot League has always been a senior dominated league. This is not a league that brings in polished kids who leave early for the NBA. As a result, kids who have been around 4 years have a chance to grow, mature and improve. It makes a difference.

Nobody in Lewisburg wants to hear "wait til next year", but realistically, this team is a year, maybe even two, away.
