Date Posted: Thu, July 07 2016, 9:19:01 In reply to: Nik 's message, "Naxos News" on Sun, June 26 2016, 13:58:06 Now we have been here for a week and had chance to explore, here are our impressions: Most of the beaches are natural, without facilities. However we bought a couple of beach chairs (€15 each) and some umbrellas which were then left in our hire car while we were on the island. With bed hire on Plaka €7 a day we were soon into profit! Aghia Anna is wonderful. Easy to reach, beautiful sand and easy access into the sea. There are no facilities, sunbeds or umbrellas, so come equipped. As you drive through the village along the coast you will see the small church on the headland. The beach is just below that. There is a car park and a boardwalk from there to the back of the beach. Plaka DOES have facilities! Almost the middle of the beach, as described in the main index, just passed the 3 Brothers (it took us a while because we were the Three Brothers!!!!) Before that the beach is visable from the road, after the road ducks behind some low dunes. This is where the nudie section is. There are three sets of umbrellas where nudism is accepted and shared with textiles. €7 for the day. Aghios Propolis, just north at Aghia Anna is another long sandy beach where nudists have a small central section. We found it to be very exposed to the prevailing north wind and it is backed by a salt lake. We visited but didn't stay long. Alyko, our favourite. No facilities but a long enclosed bay used solely by natirists. Like the others soft sand, easy access to the water and a wonderful outlook towards Paros. Downsides are that it a half hour drive from the main town and a 10 minute walk from the car park to the beach through the wonderful Juniper scrub (this is a protected area so treat with respect). Amitis, near the village of Galini. We went here on very windy day to find a very pleasant beach. There were huge rollers coming in and I spent a happy our playing in them. When we got there we found one nude couple and soon there were 2! Another couple came and when they saw us they stripped too. Far too windy for umbrellas but we had a good time there. We stayed in the town and got a hire car to get around. Great for us because of the huge selection of wonderful restaurants and tavernas! Back to Slimming World when we get home.... As has been noted before there is massive scope around the island during off season but we will have to return at another time to see just how much! And that will be no hardship as we have fallen under the spell of this wonderful island. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
