 Just noticed on the GTP ( Greek Travel Pages) that paper tickets on Athens metro/trams/buses have been discontinued effective from end December 2017 and you will need an E-Ticket or E-Card to travel. There is reference to a website but it is in Greek with no obvious translation icon. Seems you need to register on the system to get one of the new tickets. Not a lot of good when arriving at Athens airport in the middle of the night and hoping to get to Piraeus or Rafina. So you have been warned. Any Athens residents on this site who can assist with more details ?
