depends on whr u're gonna stay. i 'll tell u wat other stuffs u can do if u staying at the Pasir Panjang beach, which comprises of Redang Reef resort, Laguna redang resort, Redang Beach Resort, Redang Lagoon resort, Redang Bay resort, Redang Pelangi, Redang Holiday resort.

actually.. don hav much else to do besides sea ativities. u can take photos, makan, play board games or mahjong, sleep on the hammock read ur fave books or sip coconut. Redang Beach resort at night has beach disco, can join in to shake ur bombom.

after dinner, i usually walk about, visit other resorts chk out their premises. or take a stroll along the beach. or, if u stay at Redang Beach reosrt, u can go chk out the underwater photoshoots they took of you during the day snorkelling trip. i dono if other resorts have this service. redang isn't like tioman, it's juz a stretch of beach wif resorts on it, not a town. so u don expect to see shops, 7-eleven or hawkers except those shops within the resorts.

and yea, we usually sleep early coz we likw to get up b4 6am the nx morning to go for morning stroll.

dat's abt all u can expect fr redang at nite..

Redang is a place to go to do 'nothing'! Maybe tat's what draw people there. With no shopping or sightseeing, we begin to discover the nature tat's around. From walking on the beach, seeing stars, or crabs run up and down, it becomes fun to do nothing becos we can.

Guys, thanks for the reply. Now I am deciding on which resort to stay in... either Berjaya Beach resort OR Laguna. Any comments on which is better? :P

If you are into endless noise (due to the full-house), you can opt for Laguna but for lots of laid back quiet with not too many kids running around...try Ayu Mayang or Coral Redang...

Berjaya or Laguna? sounds like there's no budget.. my kind of holiday!!

i havent been to Berjaya, not sure abt the activities they provide. all i kno is Berjaya is highclass and loaded with facilities. it's also located near the Marine Park, NOT at the pasir panjang beach whr Laguna is situated, along with other resorts.

i've been to Laguna to chk out their resort and the surrounding.. it certainly is the best along the pasir panjang beach. depends on wat u're gonna do during ur stay @redang, pasirpanjang beach is more crowded, has lots of fishes, and can snorkel easily, juz wade out to the sea. Laguna also provide boat trips out to other snorkelling areas. personally i like pasirpanjang beach a lot. not sure how's the beach at Berjaya or whether it's convenient to snorkel there.

well if you decided to go Berjaya wld appreciate if can give us some detailed descriptions!

i think at Berjaya, there's only Berjaya (and its facilities). at pasirpanjang beach however, you can visit other resorts during the night. that's wat i always do.

I was at Berjaya for 3 nights. We got our own stretch of beach which was quiet enough to relax the day away. All the deck chairs are from the resort, for the resort. We got the feeling we are far away from anyone else. We rented a canoe and went not too far out exploring another empty beach furthur out - this time it was like having discovered an island! You get isolation here. Snorkelling meant getting into a small boat to go furthur out, but that means no crowd - just the few of us. We cannot see any corals from the beach itself. And we had good handphone reception - if that is impt at all! They place tables very near the beach for dinner, and a band goes from candlelit-table to table singing almost any song you throw at them! There is a gift shop, restaurant for all meals, and a counter manned by staff for most of the sea activities. They have no powered goggles/masks. I'd like to try Laguna next time.

If you like reading, Coral Redang Island Resort and Holiday Villa Resort would be located away from the noise.

If you like eating, Redang Beach has a good resturant which we tried in August 2002. Very good calamari with hot pasty sauce.

Two of us treked from Coral Redang to Berjaya Hotel, about 45 minutues to an hour of slow treking through the jungle. Saw one of the most beautiful river leading to the beach.

There is a nice resturant right outside of Berjaya Hotel.

By the way, the hotel is quite a distance from the Marine Park. The Marine Park is on the southern side and the Berjaya Hotel has two properties, one was the Golf & Spa Resort which I *don't* think is operational anymore located on the south-western side of Redang. The other the Standard 4.5 to 5 star variety is on the northern side of the island.
