I was at Berjaya for 3 nights. We got our own stretch of beach which was quiet enough to relax the day away. All the deck chairs are from the resort, for the resort. We got the feeling we are far away from anyone else. We rented a canoe and went not too far out exploring another empty beach furthur out - this time it was like having discovered an island! You get isolation here. Snorkelling meant getting into a small boat to go furthur out, but that means no crowd - just the few of us. We cannot see any corals from the beach itself. And we had good handphone reception - if that is impt at all! They place tables very near the beach for dinner, and a band goes from candlelit-table to table singing almost any song you throw at them! There is a gift shop, restaurant for all meals, and a counter manned by staff for most of the sea activities. They have no powered goggles/masks. I'd like to try Laguna next time.

If you like reading, Coral Redang Island Resort and Holiday Villa Resort would be located away from the noise.

If you like eating, Redang Beach has a good resturant which we tried in August 2002. Very good calamari with hot pasty sauce.

Two of us treked from Coral Redang to Berjaya Hotel, about 45 minutues to an hour of slow treking through the jungle. Saw one of the most beautiful river leading to the beach.

There is a nice resturant right outside of Berjaya Hotel.

By the way, the hotel is quite a distance from the Marine Park. The Marine Park is on the southern side and the Berjaya Hotel has two properties, one was the Golf & Spa Resort which I *don't* think is operational anymore located on the south-western side of Redang. The other the Standard 4.5 to 5 star variety is on the northern side of the island.
