Hello, Linda,

I have not seen the standard rooms at close-up but it appears to be a little smaller than the Semi-D ones.

The Semi-Ds are wooden chalets, single storey and has it own patio. The standard rooms are in a concrete two storey building; the lower ones have a small patio and the upper ones have a small balcony, both with enough room for two bamboo chairs to lounge out.

The guides and boatmen for the snorkelling trips are usually nice and sociable. Before reaching the snorkelling site, you can tell them you don't know how to snorkel and they will show you the basics.

When you're on the beach, it more like learn-it-yourself type deal, the water is shallow and usually calm at this time of the year.

No fear, it is literally, to some, a gigantic swimming pool, just don't go out too far! ;) No harm in asking if they can provide your with a 15, 20 minute free leason in snorkelling. Best if you get to the diver center before the snorkelling trip starts and get your snorkelling gear, then just go out to the beach and start practicing before the boat take you to the fishes and anemones!

If you cannot swim, you can get lifevests for rent and use this floation when snorkelling. Take note that one has to have enough upper body strength to get in and out of the water from the snorkelling boats - guide and boatman can help you here. One thing not mentioned in this forum is that the boats at Coral Redang Island Resort have step ladders, unlike some of the resorts, I see folks have to haul themselves up and-or jump down from the boats.

Enjoy your snorkelling!

tango.
