Subject: ADVICE??

Trying to plan a trip to Redang but been hearing stories about the beach being ruined and the corals dying?? Anyone who's been lately have any input? Much appreciated!

tell me the best beach you hv visited,
then i will tell u if it is worth to visit Redang.
just keep tis in mind, where ever there is human,
the beauty and health of eco nature will be destroyed,
the diff just lay on the scale of the destruction.
you got to bear with it mate :P

Guess beach conditions are all relative as pointed out earlier. Having been to a number of islands in the region (Tioman, Dayang/Aur, Pemanggil, Mabul, Sipadan etc.) I still find myself going 'wow' whenever I arrive in Pasir Panjang in Redang. Some beaches are by nature rocky/pebbly/full of dead corals - some caused by human populations, others due to natural causes & storms.

Pasir Panjang just happens to be one of those beaches that 'renews' itself with fresh, new sand after every monsoon season. If you go anytime between April and August, esp. off-peak, you'll find soft, powdery white sand beneath your feet. Most of Pasir Panjang is like that - worst part is around Shark Bay.

Other beaches at Kalong & Teluk Dalam have beaches that are also nice. Personally, I think Teluk Dalam where Berjaya is has the best sandy beach (but no housereef).
