Yes, you can walk from Kalong beach to Pasir Panjang. Head left past Redang Inn (the white tent-like chalets) to the end of the beach, then go left onto the path leading into the forest. You will arrive at the new pink/yellow resort called Redang Bahtera. Go right across the front of the resort and head for Laguna jetty at Teluk Bakau bay. Once at the jetty, follow the path towards Laguna resort and you'll end up at Pasir Panjang.

Kalong is popular with divers and is quite well-maintained. I know of folks who have stayed there and enjoyed their time there. They have nice beachfront rooms and a spacious dining hall overlooking the sea (I have some pics of the resort in my Resorts and Gallery sections on my website) and is relatively quiet with only one other resort (Mozana) next to them (Redang Inn has closed down).
