For the past several days, I've been strongly convinced that I'm all alone. I believed, and still do to a degree, that God has designed me to be alone, to live a life of solidarity. The truth is, I'm never alone. God's arms are always around me, loving me, protecting me, and guiding me. There are others around me, too. These people I take for granted. I am oddly enough thankful for pain. It's such a hard thing to give thanks for, and yet, in 1 Thess. 5:18 it says to "give thanks in all circumstances, for it is God's will for you in Christ Jesus our Lord." So when we complain (which I do) instead of giving thanks, we are complaining against God. And in that time of pain, I learn, I grow, I understand, and heal...and "thanks Jesus Christ our Lord, who has given me strength" (1 Tim 1:2) To endure the pain. I wonder what those without Christ do when they are in pain.

Okay, I'd say it's about time that we started being thankful for things around here. I know that we've all been through some rough times, some rougher than others, but I have got to say that there is no way that we have nothing to be thankful for. The rain on parched grass, a swimming pool to cool off in, a safe trip home from Africa, the air that we breathe, the Bible - our daily bread and living word!! I could go on and on!
Let's be thankful for having a God, who is always there, even when we don't feel him, and a God who never runs, except when he runs to us, and takes us in his arms.

I stared at the computer screen a long time, trying to think of what I am thankful for. Day after day, I leave my blinds closed, shutting out a world that is painful, unforgiving. Maybe I need to be thankful for the pain, for without it, I would not feel at all. At least I know I can still feel. In reality, the betrayal has made me more numb than anything. I am thankful for the wonderful opportunity that I have to attend college, and prepare a good future for myself.

I am thankful that God sees fit to provide for me when I don't deserve His Grace and I try to do things my way. God has always been there for me, and I know that. He will always see me through. Sometimes it's just hard to get the body to believe what the heart knows.

I am thankful for family, even though they may not be ideal, they are family, and I have one, and deep down they love me...not everyone can say that. I am thankful for Oreo cookies and for friends who eat the filling while you eat the chocolate, and for skim milk, because who can drink anything else? Yuck.

I am thankful for softly whispering waterfalls, waist-high Queen Anne's Lace and Purple Thistle, the curl of campfire smoke from a neighbor's bonfire, warmed, fresh Kaiser rolls with a touch of apricot jam, and downy white feathers. I am grateful I have the use of my five senses to experience the world.

I am thankful that hair dye is not permanant, I am thankful to have good friends to laugh at goofy colors with, for glow-in-the-dark stars that comfort me in the late morning, when I can't sleep.

I am grateful for friends and the love and support which they bring. I am grateful that my friends accept me as I am but always strive to help me to be better. I am grateful for the fact that God gives me an opportunity to give back the love He gives me by loving my friends. I am thankful for my family. I have wonderful parents who love me unconditionally. They deserve Heaven's highest reward.

...but God is good. That is what everyone always tell me. Sometimes it's hard to believe. Everyone has a breaking point, where they want to give up and accept their hopelessness. I am thankful for those people who remind me, that in Him, there is always Hope. I'm not sure what I would do, if they let me forget.

I am thankful for the blue skies and the green grass and trees and the breeze flowing through my yard. My eyes drink in the summer colors. I am thankful that as I sit on my chaise lounge, one dog sits between my legs and the other cuddled next to my chair, both surveying their land, ready to protect Mom whenever it is needed, but happy to receive hugs and kisses in the meantime.
