Central Station:
The movie takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The main character Dona Dora makes her living by writing letters for people who cannot read or write themselves. They dictate to her what they want written and then give her the address so that she can mail the letter. However she never actually mails the letters. She takes them home and looks them over with one of her friends. The letters are either thrown away or stuffed in a drawer.
One of her customers is a mother and her boy, Josue, who write a letter to Josue's dad ( who left them). Ana ( the mother) says that she would like her boy to know his father and that they are going to come visit him soon. However when they leave, the mother gets hit by a bus and the boy is left alone. Dona Dora sees this and after a few days of watching the boy at the train station she decides to take him in. Her original intentions are not genuine and she first sells the boy in to the black market for 1,000 dollars. She soon realizes the implications of what she has done and retrieves Josue.
They soon begin a journey to find Josue's real father. During their trip they run out of money and have a hard time getting to their destination. Through their many bus rides the boy is constantly searching for his father while Dora is learning a lot about herself. After a couple of failed addresses, Dora a Josue finally found two half brothers however his father had disappeared 6 months earlier. He gets along very well with his new found family, although they don't know that they are related to him. During the night Dora decides to leave Josue with his family and she leaves without telling him. Josue is hurt, however he has now found his family. Dora has also gained a lot from the trip. She realizes that she no longer wants to live the way she has been and goes back with new inspirations with what she want to do with her life.
