Date Posted: November 13, 2002 7:23:31 EDT Tim Hector, an Antiguan opposition member and editor of The Outlet weekly newspaper, died Tuesday. He was 59 and underwent open heart surgery in Cuba in February. Opposition Leader Baldwin Spencer, who along with Hector helped form the United Progressive Party in 1992, said Hector helped to transform politics in Antigua and the Caribbean. "Although controversial, he did make a contribution to the way this country should go," Spencer said. Hector was a friend of Cuban President Fidel Castro and Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and five children. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
