He had told the doctor, despite what she had said, that they would call him by the end of the week to tell him for sure what would happen and then they could commence with preparation for termination or prenatal care. "You deserve to be happy, after everything you've gone through, and I don't want to stand in the way of that." Sure he would love to have this baby, it would be an incredible experience, but he couldn't imagine spending nine months being the only one excited about the fruit of her womb and then it dragging them down.
