As an RA, there are certain residents that you develop a stronger relationship with than others. Just like anybody, I 'click' with certain people, and I tended to hang out with those residents more than others. Sometimes it can be hard to keep everything fair, because you naturally want to treat your friends better than people you don't have a good relationship with, or maybe flat out don't like.

To handle this, you just have to keep the "discipline" part of your job from becoming personal. Make it clear that while you may not personally be upset with what's happening (someone's playing a song you like a little too loud), it's simply against the rules and your job is to enforce those rules for the good of the community. This way your friends don't get upset with you (and if they do, that's their problem) and your other residents don't see you as playing favorites.
