Subject: Rich Raisin Cake

1 lb Raisins

Water

1 C Sugar

Vinegar

Cornstarch

3/4 C Lard

1 3/4 C Oatmeal

1 3/4 C Flour

1 t Baking soda

pinch Salt

1 c Brown sugar

Cook raisins till soft in water.Add 1 cup sugar
or enough to sweeten.Add a little vinegar to
taste and thicken with cornstarch mixed with a
little water to make a paste.Mix shortening,
baking soda,salt,brown sugar and flour like you
do for pie crust.Grease pan and put crumbs in
bottom.Pour on raisin mixture,put rest of crumbs
on top.Bake in a quick oven.Serve with ice cream
or whipped cream.
