Hi AL Edwards!
I had a freind at Speke Comp.who lived in Burnage Close.I cannot recall positively but I think He lived in #7.Tyrer was the family name, you may recall them? They lived there until the early '70's We did not start at Speke Comp.until 1965 although both of us were freinds from junior shool days.So it may be stretching it a little, seeing you left England in 1959!
Anyhow you mention you attended the boys school at Central Avenue? are you sure it was'nt Stapleton Avenue? At that time (pre-comprehensive days)I remember Central Avenue being the girls school and Stapleton was the boys secondary modern school! Then in 1965 both schools merged to form the new and one of the very first comprehensive's.No schools were demolished,so if you indeed did attended Central Avenue, then that is the same school as in the photos!
Unfortunately the wrecking balls and dozers have moved in recently and I believe the school is now demolished.Still good memories? Hope this sorts it out for you!
Norman Jones.
