Oh, not so! They do play more complex things, too, and as for compositional skills, I think that they are equala, just different styles. I think that perhaps they don't want to play Shawn's style of music, which is good for all of us, since it gives a wider choice of guitar virtuoso/mater musicians to listen to. This is very important. Imagine if everyone sounded the same?
