wow this is crazy..i had no idea you were ill
i havent kept in touch since abigail and i left memphis
about 15 years ago and moved to athens,, and began my music with vic chesnutt.. seems like yesterday.
i remember when we first met at the CFA building for a session at memphis state. pat told me i had to play with you. then when you came over those times to tommy priokos' basement and we played..i felt so inadequate..i couldn't
even read your charts, at least not like i would read them today brother. i remember when we went upstairs to my apt..
and popped in david sylvians "gone to earth" for the first time...im sorry we lost touch you were a special spirt..i remember when my little brothers' friend mike mcdonald came by the house in southaven,, and told me he was taking lessons from you,, i thought..theres no way that even you can help this guy,,,well i was wrong you took him all the way..i was so impressed. bill stamey told me he turned you on to the chapman stick recording "controlled chaos" i did with the jamman. you never heard me play stick live,, so i hope the cd gave you a bit of joy...since then ive recorded with gerry gibbson a record, and have been doing gigs at a local punjabi restuarant,,
playing hindustani ragas on sarangi,, and my youngist son plays tampura with me...anyway i almost wrote you a hundred times, to tell you what im telling you now,,but i was also busy..im so sorry man

time is the enemy indeed. you and your family will forever be in my thoughts and prayers..i blew off going to see selvaganesh tonight in houston,,and felt like crap for being so apathetic...then to hear this about you...i just went in my studio put on some of your playin..put my hands in my face, and went numb
