JAK and I had a convseration a while back about what real self defense was.. real l life stuff as a new dad, I often practice how I would deal with a tango whilest carrying my son.

(good story follows)

for instance, the other day I was teaching my sister in law to shoot.. after we were done I showed her how I practice., I took a baby car seat in one hand (no baby while I was practicing) , drawing my carry gun from gym shorts (dressed for hot weather) and sending 2+1 to an obique target... she was taken back a bit, and wondered why anyone would bother someone with a baby.. I explained what a soft target was..

...you gotta do this stuff..

so today was walking though the park, there were lots o hippy types, I come across a herd of D&D SCA players with them padded bats prentending to slay Sir Lancealot.. a few of them came a bit close so with baby and carseat in left hand, I managed to grab one of the bats, and fended off (by wacking in the head) a few of the stoned out dickheads.. they didnt know what hit them... didn't even wake the kid.. this was fun actually..

I guess that Bowie Seminar came in handy. this was just play though and there was never any threat of-course.. but this turned out to be good practice, for the real thing..

My point is, that real self-defense is not what they teach in dojo's and it's not doing the (as I call it) Fagget-Butt walk with a pistol in a shoot house.. it's wierd situations like walking though the park with a baby... or driving in your car with the family an getting bumped and fucked by the scammers lawyers..

you gotta practice for this shit... save the high roundhouse kicks for the dance floor..
