Subject: 94 Taurus A/C Problem

Message boards might fix what the shop can't. Can't afford the HELMS manual for the vehicle.

At 90K miles A/C works great and can grow icicles on your nose. Clearly no freon low charge problems.

After engine warms up (10 minutes of freeway driving) A/C abruptly stops and blows tepid air. Five minutes later it returns with a frosty vengance, only to leave after a couple of minutes. Fan works fine--it's the compressor that quits.

Always works from a cold start. A/C will resume working after a stop at Hardees for coffee.
