Subject: 97 Lincoln Continental "check power steering assist"

When starting Computer displays "check power steering assist". When this happens the power steering is hard to steer. When motor is shut off and restarted, everything is fine. More often happens in hot weather. Lincoln dealer replaced the actuator assembly and found a open ground of bulkhead circuit that they resoldered. This has been going on for 18 months most times Lincoln Mercury can't find anything with tests. Recently, when turning the steering wheel (moving or not) you hear a rubbing, groaning noise from the front end. I brought the car to Lincoln Mercury they said they could'nt find problem, but it went away for a month and its back again... The car has 65,ooo miles (ANY SUGGESTIONS?) P.S. I think Fords are great I own 97 Lincoln, 99 Grand Marquis, 1950 Mercury Woodie,1949 Mercury Conv. and 1966 Mustang
