Thanks to Paul and Carla for your replies.
I just drove my 91 Accord LX to Walmart on freeway this evening (7pm). It was perfect because the naughty "S" light was not on even since the engine started. However, 3 days ago, in the afternoon (5pm), the "S" light went on suddenly when I was on freeway, the highest speed I could get was 55mph because the engine had reached 3000rpm and could not shift to upper gear. But just after I exited the freeway, and the speed went down to 40mph, the "S" light went off. then, everthing went back to normal accordingly.
So, I think the status of the "S" light is just not stable and associated with temperature?
In brief, the symptom of my Accord is that as long as the "S" light takes a vacation, the overall performance of the car is perfect.

--Paul: Are you going to try Carla's solution?
--Carla: the board of $100 is a used one or brand new one? Does the $100 include the labor?

Thanks again!
