Ok I'm going to try and make my true come back. Lets see if I can't do a topic a day. At least try to keep things alive.

Is Principal Wood Good or Evil? What are you opinions here.

I think that they have built him up to seem to be something sinister, but actually the audience is being misled. His disposing of Jonathan's body made him seem harsh and uncaring, and maybe even looked like he was under the thrall of the FE possibly. But is that truly the case?

My theory is that he is actually working for the same organization that Giles is currently associated with. And while I don't know how he knew about Jonathan's body being there. I think he was merely doing his job for the side of good. whatever side that is.

I read a recent interview with D.B. Woodside. He's hiting that there will be something between Principal Wood and Buffy. Well, first, I find it hard to believe and second, if it's true - well then he's evil. I mean, look at her previous relationships (aside from that bright spot, Riley;)

When asked whether the relationship with be of the nemesis variety or love interest, he indicated: "All I can say is I think it is going to be something the die-hard Buffy fans will really appreciate, really like. It's going to be an incredible ride." WTF!!!! :) What is that supposed to mean?

From the interview: Woodside, who said his role is expanding beyond the original 10-episode plan, mentioned that he's excited about spending an increasing amount of time with Sarah Michelle Gellar in upcoming eps. "I love working with Sarah," he gushed. "She is absolutely crazy. She's a nut. And her sense of humor is just amazing. I like to say she's like a little tiny Minnie Mouse on speed."

(Isn't that sweet. He gushes over SMG )

So, what does that boil down to as far as my opinion.

When I first saw him enter the scene, I thought evil. I thought he knew too much, was in the right place, at the right time, and seemed just too damn nice.

Well, when I saw him bury Jonathan's body without a second glance, I thought "Aha!!! Wood is EVIL!!!"

But!!! I thought about it more, and I'm a fencesitter.
I posted something at the NB that perhaps he's a Watcher, sent to Sunnydale by Giles (because Giles was rehabing Willow) to watch Buffy, and to report back to Giles if anything starts to happen. That would explain his hiring Buffy so quickly without checking her psychological or emotional background (hello, working with kids here!!!) and would explain how or why he knew about the seal in the basement.

So, pass me the popcorn, I'll sit on the fence and watch the rest of the season and just not be surprised either way (well .... unless he and Buffy have a loving relationship. Then I give up ...)

Yeah I've read some of that interview before. Can't say I'm thrilled with it. I'm kinda worried about the fact taht Buffy has recieved a bit of guff about having no minority actors in the main cast. Not that I have anything against the idea at the basest. but I don't want to see them throw wood at Buffy just so she is dating a black man to prove that the show isn't racist. Plus it gets in the way of my BX ;)

And honestly I just can't see them putting someone new with Buffy at this point, if this is indeed the final season.

However that is about what I want and don't want to happen.

I still don't buy he is evil. Its kinda like watching a Perry Mason movie. Where there is just too much information to convict the defendant, and when that happens you know they are innocent and Perry will get them off in the end.

I agree, there has been so much thrown at us to think he's evil (mostly recently). BUT when he first came on the scene he was all sunshine and flowers. Sunshine and flowers = evil (if you want to think in opposites).

I should just go with my first instinct!!!

*muttering as I climb back up on the fence ;-)*

I don't think Wood is evil. I just don't. I don't think just because he buried Jonathan necessarily means he's evil.

But what do I know? In Joss/ME's simplistic, increasingly didactic stories everything is black and white, what you see on the surface is what you get. *Yawn*

Can you tell I'm feeling critical today? ;)

They are more like Black and Black and then when your not expecting it they throw in the white.
