Any dog can develop any sorts of problems as they get older but chances are for breathing, if they never had a problem when they were younger chances are they won't when they get older unless they contact lung cancer or something of the sort. Pekes have very short pushed in faces that do cause them some problems when it comes to heat. They can't be in the heat for long periods of time so if you are looking for a dog to go for walks with you on sun shiny days, I don't recommend getting a Pekingese. Pekes like to stay cool and love the colder weather than the hot. On hot days they will enjoy a nice cold pack to lay on. There are a lot of myths about this breed that are inaccurate and they make a wonderful pet.
