I guess it concerns me when we place "value" on what language someone sings a song in.
Did you know that the National Anthem was already in Spanish as of 1919?....and it was our own educational system that did it?
I also wonder why are we so intent on guarding our southern boarders from "Mexicans" but our nothern boards dont seem to worry us.
Let me tell you if I was a terrorist leader I would start recruting amoung European looking young people...have them go to Canada...then just walk across the boarder....into one of our northern states...Are our nothern boarders even being watched except at the normal boarder crossings where there are roads?(I when into Canada 20 yrs ago from the Northern UP of Michigan, and they did check our ID.....but what if a backpacker just hiked in from a wilderness area?)

Can we honestly say that in some way this is(not from you) not a from of bigotry?

Now I do not beleave that people who are here illegally(from any country or race) should be given food stamps, medicaid, etc...... They should of course be fed while in our custody and if they are sick should be cared for with proper medical treatment...but then should be sent back...unless they are filing for political asylume(sp?).

Yes people who come here legally and are here to stay should learn the common language...however I can not see having another law mandating something else that can not be enforced.
Also learning another language takes time if you are a grownup and in the mean time it would be the kind thing to do to help them by having people who speak their language available to interpet for them.
Last year at girls camp there were some new girls(new members) that could only speak Spanish and this is not a huge spanish speaking area(eastern KY) yet the church had someone at girls camp to help them communicate in their own language and there was no damand that they learn our language if they wanted to come to girls camp....I mean they are in this country and "ought" to learn the language...right?(not trying to be a smart aleck just trying to make a point).

It just seems like when ....well....I would say that a good share of English speaking Americans dont even know the words to the national Anthem...why are we upset that spanish speaking Americans are singing it in Spanish?....at least they are singing it!
