Congress has the power to establish post offices and post roads. But nowhere does it authorize for the delivery or handling of mail. That was privatized for decades before the postal service became a function of the government.
And it's not that I don't LIKE the USPS. I just think that it's very nature allows for mediocracy, unlike good old-fashioned competition which is what I live with day to day in the home building industry. But we're not snow white, either. We can and do take all the advantages we can by rubbing shoulders with and taking care of our local lawmakers. It's sad, but it's the way of life.
And yes, we do agree on most things, but it's fun to have a little debate every now and then! But please, don't put me in charge! :o)
