Subject: It could be lack of faith...

Debbie, you quoted "Why don't the people of all nations of the world rise up? Is it always lack of truth? Or could it be something(s) else?" and you mentioned tacky soap operas, etc.

But what you probably hinted at is something I have been thinking myself, that in order to work for a change you must believe that things can improve and that it matters. It doesn't (in my humble opinion) have to be religious faith, but faith is required nonetheless. (Incidentally 1) I believe even an atheist who believes in something, some principle(s) have faith, 2) it's easier to believe in what you don't know is false...)

So, I think our society suffers from lack of faith. And at the American Revolution, people had faith in principles of freedom, reason, etc. (It's modern propaganda that they were very religious. Some where, but what people really had faith in was reason and freedom, etc.)

What does it take to make people fight for their freedom (rather than fight to give it away) ?

Leif Erlingsson, heretic®.
