Who starts with a "cocktail" before lunch and it starts from there. Some people can hold a lot, before it is obvious. Signs to watch for are the obvious smell, overly happy or argumentive, harping on one topic, unsteadiness, forgetfullness and just noticing that something isn't quite right. It's so unfair for people, especially children, to have to deal with this. I remember that my dad would disappear for days at a time and we generally would'nt catch up with him until we got the call that he had wrecked the car.
