Subject: Ok,...I have a topic to talk about

How do you all feel about our cultures insistance that we can not have more then a child or two because it cost to much to have more?

Rarely do I buy them new clothes, with the exception of underware and socks and the occasionaly must have things.
I go to consignment shops or I get them free.

My oldest dd is going to prom this year. She got her dress free from a cousin out of state. She has bartered with a lady at my work...she will babysit for her if for free if she fixes her hair. She is going to babysit for the other things she needs for the prom.

We cant afford for the insurence for them to drive...with two of them(boy and girl twins) comming of an age to drive...well there simply is no money for the extra insurence..its just not there..there are no more corners to cut. My husband is going to be working 12 hrs days 6 days a week soon. My job at the preschool will be over for the summer but I will pick up hrs at the movie theatre doing three different jobs...cleaning, concessions and door.

but anyway.....
I dont think kids need to cost(they do cost dont get me wrong) as much as our culture wants us to beleave they do.
We have a whole generation of kids that are being brought up to beleave if they dont have certain things then life is not good or if you cant provide all the extra things you shouldnt have kids.

so what do you all do?
Do you all provide all the things our culture says we MUST have in order to live?

If it were up to me I would live in a cabin far from the world and have a garden, goats, chickens, and maybe a mule. I would fish and can and dry foods.......

I'm not against having the extra fluff but I'm saying one shouldnt be lead to beleave that one MUST have it in order to be fruitful and multiply.

My kids get grief because they dont have the fluff.
I think as long as they are clean and modest...tuff with what the world thinks.
But it is hard. They do want to wear the things everyone else has. We can do it TO A POINT! But not beyond that point.
