Two winged femoras enter th' terra, starting their usual words about th' blackblood alliance -- 'nd then stop, seeing Almase. "Almase!" white one cries out, 's she 'nd fellow mare spiral t' a landing.

Looking up, Almase spoers 'er two friends fr'm Silver Coppice. "Bayda!" she cries to th' white one, and "Dirayat!" t' th' ghostly mare b'side 'er. "What are you DOING here?!"

"What're WE doing here?" One dubb'd Bayda exclaims. "What're YOU doing here?!"

"You first!" is Almase's exclamation.

"Well, you see, it's like this. I was returning from one of my practices, when this blackblood stallion came up and said some such nonsense about claiming me and then I flew off, but he followed me, shifting into panther form -- he was a shapeshifter -- and when this panther attacked me I surrendered and went with him, and then Dirayat came after me and found me -- I think Farhan had something to do with that, he ran through Bloodbath once -- and so now Skajira has both of us, and he was trying to..umm..breed with me--"

"--rape you," is Dirayat's tart reply.

Bayda glows a faint scarlet. "Yes, what Dirayat said, and then he got sidetracked and started talking to this other shapeshifter about a blackblood alliance, and we got scared and ran and ended up here!" She blows hard, trying t' catch 'er breath.

Almase simply stares.

"So...what're YOU doing here?"

"Well, after I left Coppice, I went into Cendre d' Secrete --"

"--uh oh--"

"--Hush and let me finish. Anyway, so there were blackbloods there, so I decided to act like Farhan and maybe scare them into leaving me alone. Well it didn't work. Two blackblood mares approached me, and then that blackblood foal I met once -- it was actually a silverblood, I'll introduce you in a minute -- had actuaolly matured by then and came with some silverblood stallion and we tried to beat off the blackbloods but ran and we went to Rainmaker Silverwoods but that place got destroyed by the crows and then we came here." She pauses, then adds in a startled voice, "A blackblood alliance?! With Skajira leading it?! Trouble's on the way!" Then, more calmly: "Well, we'll just have to counter it with a silverblood alliance, shan't we? This looks like the beginnings of one right here. Which reminds me, I probably ought to introduce you to the rest of it. Hey guys! Over here! This is *Raya--" mahogany mare nods "--and her daughter Mulan. Midnight In Montgomery is right over there. " Motioning t'wards th' winged silv'rblood steed. "And these two are Bayda and Dirayat."

Bayda frowns. "Wait a minute, how can--" A look from Almase enlightens 'nd silences 'er.

Telepathy fr'm Almase: *I'll explain later, but I think you get the gist.*

Bayda nods, 's well 's Dirayat, f'r th' latter had heard 's well.

"Well, this isn't all we need if we're going to have an alliance," Dirayat says sensibly. "We need to find more."

Mulan speaks, f'r th' first time: "You may have noticed that I'm a blackblood. I can go to this Skajira person and find out more about him."

*Raya looks alarmed. "Absolutely not!"

"Absolutely yes!" is Mulan's sharp reply. "We NEED more information, and I'm the only blackblood here! Skajira is NOT going to trust a silverblood!"

*Raya looks beseechingly 't Almase, Bayda and Dirayat, but they seem t' agree. Gaze turns t' Midnight in Montgomery. 'Is words on th' subject 'waited.
