In reply to: Ikkitarita 's message, "Sands Of Time" on 15:46:27 01/27/03 Mon

A shrieking sound escaped from the trees and rocks, and the forest breathed deeply. Ikkitarita felt the mourning of One who loved him, who despised the dead world of shadow and loneliness.

THEY who own this land, this wretched land of Creoto, do they love you? The souls of the creatures are not even wanted, they are not taken to any place prepared for them, for good or for evil. Your own spirit wanders, alone and downcast. Your only hope is life again? Are you sure of this? To be mortal, where your heart will toil and you will speak your words ... and in a short time, it will be over.

A whisper rose from the ground like smoke.

No creature can redeem the life of another
  or give to God a ransom for him--
the ransom for a life is costly,
  no payment is ever enough--
that he should live on forever
  and not see decay.

For all can see that wise creatures die;
  the foolish and the senseless alike perish
and leave their wealth to others.

This is the fate of those who trust in themselves,
  and of their followers, who approve their sayings.

Like sheep they are destined for the grave,
  and death will feed on them.
The upright will rule over them in the morning;
  their forms will decay in the grave,
  far from their princely mansions
But God will redeem my life from the grave;
  he will surely take me to himself.

The feeling of mourning changed into a concern, a pity or sympathy. It was all around Ikkitarita, throbbing through everything.

A thin-tongued voice, with rolling words and a sharp tone leaked from the trees and rocks.

The fool says in his heart,
  "There is no God."
They are corrupt, and their ways are vile;
  there is no one who does good.

God looks down from heaven
  on the creatures
to see if there are any who understand,
  any who seek God.
Everyone has turned away,
  they have together become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
  not even one.

Will the evildoers never learn--
  those who do not call on God?
There they were, overwhelmed with dread,
  where there was nothing to dread.

For a moment then, perhaps the stallion could feel the edge of an endless power, pushing against the unmeasured amounts of how much he was cared for. As the final song poured from the sky, THEY watched from a distance, filled with fear and hatred. This whole land THEY had fought for and owned! Lonely souls cried out from everywhere, death dripped through the soil, and THEY feasted on the despair of everyone. No one had known the true nature of THEM, most thought THEY were holy and powerful--the highest. None had asked for more, until this wretch! THEY would draw Ikkitarita down into the depths of THEIR home, and devour him with bitterness for what he had done. Had the One really given Ikkitarita the choice for the fate of fate? If Ikkitarita realized that evil had owned him and his home under the lie of freedom ... If Ikkitarita knew that this loneliness after death was not all that could be ... If Ikkitarita was as unselfish now as he had previously been ... THEY shrieked and cowered at the thought of it. He is just a slave and the depth of his mind is more shallow than the streams at dry season, do not fear THEY lied to each other.

The last and longest poured from the sky through strong voices, and there was nothing THEY could do to stop it.

Surely I was sinful at birth,
  sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Surely you desire truth in the inner parts'
  you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
  wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
  let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins
  and blot out all my iniquity.

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
  and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence
  or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
  and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
  and sinners will turn back to you.
Save me from bloodgulit, O God,
  the God who saves me,
  and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
O Lord, open my lips,
  and my mouth will declare your praise.
You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
  you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
  a broken and contrite heart,
O God, you will not despise.
