in her mind's eye, she had imagined treasure, danger, and beauty on an island, and wandering had taken her here. the mare stumbled upon the sand and laid on the sun warmed sand, feeling feathery waves tickle at her wet haunches. laying there, she watched as her shadow disappeared, then grew long as the sun prepared to nap 'low the waters. the tide went down, and her silver coat began to dry out. the gray mare's ebony mane remained stiff and dry from the salty waters, and she finally struggled to her feet as the first cool night breezes blew and twilight was well into it's course. amazed, the mare peered up at the sky and murmured, extra stars... breathlessly. she stared up in wonderment at the stars, nickering softly to herself, then set her mind to finding food. teacup muzzle dropped to huff a few breaths onto the sand, the nostrils dry and cracked from prolonged exposure to seawater. moving with stiff, achy strides, the silverblood found some dried seaweed and munched experimentally. the tangy flavor was new, but not at all completely bad. snorting, she realized how badly she needed water, pure, saltless liquid. shaking her crest, causing a tumultous wave to scatter cobalt tendrils, she moved at a steady trot, following her instincts. the air grew cooler as the moon rose, and finally, after trekking through island verdure, she stumbled onto a small, clear pool of water. the young mare stepped into the water until she was belly deep and plunged her sable snout into the cool liquid, sucking in water merrily. finally, her belly was full. she moved from the pond and ambled towards a palm tree when a rock caught her eye. stopping, turning with a flick of her tail, she lowered her svelte boa and peered at it. hmm... she lifted her head to go, it was merely a tiny jagged boulder, but suddenly movement caught her eye. placing an intelligent orb close to it, she stared in wonderment as clouds moved across it. bolts of lightning tumbled across it's surface, too, and suddenly the silver one knew why her heart had led her here. a treasure, indeed! whuffling a breath, she nosed the rock until it stood under the palm tree and she slept, standing over it protectively.
