.with calculated movements, the patched shire strides purposefully back in to his home. his brawny legs convulse and stretch as they propell his massive framework inwards, and only when he has cleared the line of trees do they slow and take a breather. the perpetual smirk lingers on his features, but it has dulled somewhat, for the years were moving on and, surely but slowly, he was growing up. he wad filled with an unusual respect for the powerful mares still meandering about the terra. and though they did nothing more than wander and idly munch at the tendrils below, he was proud to see them healthy and well. his smirk fades further as an unfamiliar smile replaces it, contorting his rounded features in to an odd expression. his auricles lean to each side and then flick forward, happily intaking the sounds of his herd; his nadirs do a similar movement, exhaling outwards and then in again, causing his lip to twitch with pleasure. it had been far too long since he'd smelled these wonderful smells!.
