Well, John, let's hear the latest. You haven't told us squat on whats going on, what you are doing, who are you hanging out with etc.
By the way, I recall a popular greeting card and stationery business in Hong Kong known as GloryMoon Greeting Cards & Homay Paper Products. How nice to be able to, longterm, expand to international market and maybe partner up with them.

I just went down to the seaside today. The first week was spent in Bangkok visiting friends and doing more research for importing. I found some very beautiful and unusual silk products on a previous trip, but I couldn't identify them. Now I know they originate in Laos, more specifically, only the Luang Prabang region. That explains why these things just aren't seen by most people. I'm thinking of specializing in this one type of silk. This may require a trip to Laos soon. Personally, I would rather develop a business contact here in Thailand that can work as an agent in Laos. I have one already, but I think I can find a better deal.

Right before I left Tucson I met with an import retailer that took some samples from me and is considering carrying my stuff on consignment, or perhaps even ordering from me. They have my email, but I haven't heard anything yet. I hope they contact me before my trip ends so I can know to supply them or not. That would be a great oportunity to expand the operation and scale up the profits. Otherwise, I'll have to continue selling on my own. If I can get some steady business importing, then I will get a business license & tax number. Then I can write off many of my trip costs as business expenses. If the business never really develops, then I at least have a good write off for the 5 years allowed. If it grows, then great.

Since I just got into town I'll probably drop by and see how Aoy is doing today. I haven't heard from her in over a month. After I give myself a little time to relax and decompress, I'll contact my other friends in town and have some fun. Right now I'm looking forward to a swim in the sea.

More later...
