Hi Nan,

My 3 year old female spayed crested has this problem too. There is a large hardened part on her upper rear leg, that is fairly raised (thick). The doc had given me antibiotics which seemed to help a bit, but it never went away. In addition, my little girl has an elephant looking skin type rash that goes from her side to under her groin, this part is not hardened or thick, just looks like a rash, with some redness at the edge of it. I feed her Dick Van Patton Sweet Potatoe Duck, with a scoop of yogurt, and a scoop of pumpkin. I also give her a Culturelle pill every day, you can find this in any drug store, walmart, usually in the vitamin section. It's expensive and there are other less expensive ones on the market, but I believe this one contains 10 million/billion cells, the others contain less cells. You can read about it on the web. The rash did go away after a few months of Culturelle, so I stopped the treatment as I thought she was cured, then the rash reappeared, so we are back on the Culturelle. Recently I have been taking a paper towel fold it into quarters and soak it with Witch Hazel, I rub her all over with that once or twice a day, then put Aloe on her. The Aloe seems to be softening up the hardened part of the thick elephant skin. Then give her baths with the yogurt honey mixture everyone talks about here. I am also going to try the olive oil/brown sugar mixture on her. If you have success with something, please let me know, and I will also let you know if I come up with something.
Good luck!
Suze
