Hi Fairlee,

My dog was a CC kid & she was diagnosed with a the same Mitral Valve disease in 2005. It usually develops into Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). I get an Echocardiogram, performed by a Cardiologist, every year to monitor changes. I also watch for symptoms of CHF, such as, coughing, shortness of breath & panting/labored breathing when at rest. Your Cardiologist will determine if & when to put her on meds.

So far, my girl, Suzi, has only had minor changes. Her next echocardiogram is due in October. I hold my breath throught the exam every time, but it needs to be done.
