Maybe it was a bee, but you might have them check for cryptosporidium. My Suzie was about that age when she got very sick rather suddenly. I believe she had gotten into some contaminated ground water while we were visiting in a rural location. It was hard to diagnose. At first the vet thought it was parvo, but she had had the shots. Suzie was vomiting blood and had several IV's but she recovered just fine.
