IMO, you can't really gauge what her aggression level is like in a shelter. Cresties typically do not do well at all in shelters and show a totally different persona when in that situation than when in a home environment. Socialization with other dogs is the key to getting over any dog on dog issues. I, personally, would not worry about your children.

As for housebreaking..again, you have to look at the environment she is in. She is surrounding by scents & smells totally bewildering to her and her instinct is saying...mark your territory. While there's no guarantee she will be housebroken, it is quite possible to train (or retrain) a 4 yr old.

If it were me, I'd go get her today.
