I am a firm believer in all dogs, but particularly Cresties, should not have any grains in their diet. I, too, had resorted to cooking for my dogs before finding Natural Balance grain free line of foods. I feed the Sweet Potato/Fish formula and absolutely swear by it. Now, having said that, if you want to continue cooking for your dogs, I think that's fabulous...you know exactly what they're ingesting. If you're worried about the right vitamins/minerals, consider adding a good nutritional supplement such as Missing Link, Show Stopper, or Nupro to their diet. All of these are granulated/powder formulas you can mix right in with their food.

As for the whiteheads/pearly cysts, there's a great shampoo called Keratolux that works fabulous and is not overly drying to the skin. Try using the olive oil as a moisturizer as well, it won't clog the pores & won't harm them if they lick it after you apply it. Have you tried using a sugar scrub to soften the skin? You can mix up your own. Just mix brown (or white) sugar and olive oil, and massage into the skin, then rinse off the excess oil. Works great and will soften your hands too.

Hope that helps.
