Hi,
I am interested in adopting a young dog, possibly a HL rescue, and this would be my first crested. I haven't decided yet for sure what breed I will eventually get, and am right now in the "research" stage. I read on another crested site some postings talking about staph infections-I believe someone there mentioned that this happens at times, especially in the winter when the humidity is low, and maybe the skin dries out? Not sure on that. But my question is: is staph a common occurance or just how often might this be an issue.

I ask this because my grandson has a trach, and his health is of the utmost importance. While I know that not every dog will get every malady that's possible for a crested to get, I just wondered if this is something that does happen often.

Thank you so much for any help anyone can give me in helping me to make a decision on whether or not a crested would be a good fit for my family!

Chris
