One of my dogs had chronic yeast infections in only one ear for his entire life. This was allergy related. We ended up cleaning it out several times a week to keep it under control with an vet ear cleaning solution or vinegar and water and medication put in the ear when needed.
If it gets better and comes back, you may have a contact allergy to ingredients in the medication like neomycin sulfate which can cause itching and inflammation and propylene glycol can cause itchiness in some dogs as well so you may want to see if this may be a cause if it cleared up at all at least once.
Does your puff have a yeast infection or bacterial or both? Has the discharge inside been cultured?
Are you using a drying solution after it gets cleared up to help it not reoccur?
Is your puff allergic to wool or lanolin? Are you using any products on her that may contain lanolin like shampoos or rinses?
Lee is right, you should consider a food allergy trial as well. This takes quite some time to see results ( 6 weeks to three months)so be patient if you change foods.
