I also have just started feeding my dogs home cooked meals. Its not as hard as it sounds. They still get a little dry food at each meal, though it has to be moist because my little one is such a bad choker. No kidding, he gets dry food caught in his throat all the time. I usually just boil a chicken twice a week with some veggies and cut it up at feeding time and mix that with a tiny bit of dry and some broth. I also give them Missing link food supplement to make sure they are getting the right nutrition. I bought a couple of books online on cooking for your dogs, but they were not very helpful. I already knew how to make a meatloaf, or pizza, etc. I did make a meatloaf yesterday with all kinds of veggies like spinach, tomatoes, zucchini and brown rice. They loved it! I was trying to figure out something that I could send to the dog sitters when we leave for vacation next month. That should do it. I'll just cut it up into measured pieces and pack it in the freezer.

When I fed my dogs canned food, one of my cresteds became a little chub. Now that I feed them a measured nutritious meal, he is getting his boyish figure back, the little muffin!

I am a little squeamish about the raw diet. I don't think I could do it. I used to work in a restaurant. I am very aware of all the little bugs you can get from raw meat. BLECH!
