I prefer males over females, the males just tend to be more laid back, mellow & sweet natured. I have more trouble with the females in my pack and bringing in new females. I try really hard NOT to foster females as they usually clash my with alpha girl. Now having said all that, I do have 2 yr old female who was spayed BEFORE her first heat cycle, and she is the sweetest, most loving girl...unlike the others who went thru at least one heat. Gimme boys any day. The other great thing about boys is should they squabble, they'll have their little fuss and then it's over....not so with most females - they will hold a grudge & would fight to the death if you let them. I recently placed a foster girl in a home and the 3 months she was with me was miserable. She and my alpha hated one another, they had to be separated when we weren't home, and God forbid trying to watch TV on the couch with them...all it would take was one look from the other and it was on (and they both started it).

Like I said, gimme boys any day!
