This morning I woke Aime and Amanda up extra early so they could get in some riding time before school started. Amanda was not used to getting up at 5:30, but she woke up quickly, because she remembered that she lived with horses now.
I had Aime saddle up Joy, my horse, and warm her up. Amanda did the same with Dancer, while I fed and groomed Sunny. Aime chattered the whole time about buying a horse. Amanda wants to own an Oylimpic caliber eventer someday, but she needs to work hard before she ever gets that far.
After they were done tacking up, I showed them to the outdoor arenas. It was a pleasantly cool, sunny morning out, so we used the big arena for warm-up. Then I had Amanda practice extensions and flying lead changes, and had Aime do some sliding stops and turns.
Then I split them up, and Aime went to the small arena, to do some barrels and poles. I set up calveltti and did some gymnastic jumping with Amanda (combonations to have both Amanda and Dancer think hard on distances and timing). When both of them were done with their training, I had them start to cool down the horses, and went to put a longing cavesson of Sunny, and quickly longed him at the walk and trot.
Then we all clipped the horses back in the crossties, groomed them, and put them back in the stall, with some hay and their second grain feeding.
Aime and Amanda quickly showered, and got ready for school.
I said "Good job today. There is going to be some tough competition at the show, so you will need to practice again when you get home".
Riding Time:
Me- o hours
Aime- 1 hour
Amanda- 1 1/2 hours
Joy (horse)- 1 hour
Dancer (horse)- 1 1/2 hours
Sunny- longed, 1/2 hour
