I checked and enable power saving was already
off. So I figured, if this can affect the sound
card, then maybe I should turn it on. I did and
things got better, but not for long. Sound works
fine as long as the machine is 'cold'. As soon as
it has been up for 1/2 hour or so, the sound becomes
erratic and eventually freezes the computer. I intalled
Rain and set power saving to max. Now it takes longer
to get 'hot', but when it does, it freezes. If sound
is disabled, you can run the machine for as long as you
want and it has never frozen on me.
Is there software that would say if the sound chip has
problems?
Also AB suggested a sound PC card. Any reccomendations?
