Sorry to hear that my suggestion didn't help. I had
a similar sound card problem last year. After many
reinstalls, driver searches, and irq headaches I
was in your same position of looking for a pcmcia
sound card for my computer. While searching for
a new sound card on dejanews, I also did a search
of my computer symptoms. I typed in the keywords
"sound freeze" and found the solution on a homebuilt
pc newsgroup. Actually, it wasn't that easy. I had
to read through A LOT of junk and narrow down my
search using the right keywords. You can look for
a new sound card if you don't find a fix. Try dejanews
if you haven't already.
