ASE does still exist. I spoke with them on Friday because I hadn't recieved a reply to my fax requesting info on a credit they owed for parts not recieved. They were very nice about looking up my old invoice and I expect to get a refund from them fairly soon. That's the good news. The bad news is I was also inquiring about getting my XL serviced since I had dropped it earlier that morning and now all I can do is hold down the papers on my desk with it. I was informed that several months ago they recieved orders from the head office in Taiwan to stop working on or supporting the Transmonde line. It took them a little while to fulfill the work orders they had at the time but have since let all the Transmonde technicians go and most of them have already returned to Taiwan. In other words we ARE left out in the cold with no way to get any service done by them. Anyone with a Transmonde better hope nothing serious happens or you too will have an 8 pound paperweight. I figure my best option is to hunt through all the service tips found on this site and see if I can figure my problem out. I asked ASE about schematics or service manuals and they do not exist, so the info on this site becomes increasingly important. It would be great if one of the more knowelegable tech types could organize the info from this site into one area that would help the rest of us when we have to tear into the things.
